Underground

In 1995 Aum Shinrikyo conducted an attack on the Tokyo Subway using sarin gas, killing thirteen and injuring thousands. It stands as the worst attack in modern Japanese history and prompted global concern about terrorist groups obtaining chemical weapons. Haruki Murakami published his interviews of the victims and perpetrators in 2000, detailing the motives behind the attacks and the long-lasting effects on the victims – more than twenty years later, a majority of the victims say they still have vision problems and fatigue.
